Menopause has been a challenge for me. Restlessness, racing mind, and depression have come into my life and I am not happy about it. There are many symptoms of menopause, which I wrote about some of them in one of my previous post (see here). Fortunately I have researched and discovered ways to improve some of my symptoms, so I feel better.

Restlessness and a Racing Mind

Before menopause I would have times that I dealt with restlessness and a racing mind. These times often happened at high stresses in my life. For the most part I could rest at night. Since menopause I have found myself up and down at night sometimes not sleeping at all. Part of it is the racing mind. Worry over different subjects, mostly silly stuff. For the average woman I would say children, grandchildren, husbands, housework, and money are the main subjects. Stress factors often lead to the sleepless nights. Most of the time we do not realize that we are stressed.

Depression

Sometimes when we think about depression, we think of events. When your body goes through changes so does our thoughts. Menopause contributes to a change in a woman’s body. Most of the time they are small changes, but sometimes they are big. The way the skin changes or the fat in the body collects in different areas, can be depressing. Often times a woman just does not feel like she use to feel. Having more body aches and joint pain can contribute to the chain of symptoms. Sometimes a woman does not feel attractive anymore. You may feel you have lost a part of yourself and this can contribute to depression.

Having dealt with depression throughout my life, I have learned some warning signs. Menopause has been an issue for me and I am determined to get through it on a positive note. Thank you for joining me again on my journey through menopause. I will be posting more on depression and my low carb journey.
