Rise and shine! It’s a beautiful day! The snooze alarm just keeps going off and you are not feeling it today. You have been working hard at home, job, relationships, kids, charity, etc… So many things to do and that need to be done but you just can not get out of the bed. Life seems to have become an existence not an enjoyment. This blog post is about five ways to do life better and to look forward to each moment.

1 Cry

Crying does not sound like it would make life better but it does. When you get frustrated and hold that frustration in, it builds up. Stress becomes your life and you just coast along in the chaos. As time goes by you feel more and more hopeless because you continue to hold everything in and go with the flow of everything. Crying becomes an outlet for all the emotionally held in frustration. Go ahead have a good cry, time yourself, and write down all of your feelings. Every person needs some alone time…down time.

2 Breathe

The way you breathe can help with daily struggles. Hyperventilating can be very scary but deep breathing can be relaxing. When stress or chaos is surrounding you, how you breath is the last thing on your mind. But breathing will help you take control of an overwhelming situation also add in counting ten backwards. There are many websites with wonderful information about breathing exercises, here’s one. So breathe: take a deep breath, hold it for 10 seconds, and let it out slowly…much better!

3 Drain the Brain

You can not sleep! Your mind is racing with what you didn’t do today, what you need to do tomorrow, how tired you are, the idiot that pulled out in front of you, how you handle the stress, etc…. It just goes on and on till it is two am. Maybe it is time to get up and write everything down. Do this at anytime, morning or night but the key to it is to do it by yourself. It is hard to clear your mind if chaos is all around you. Take thirty minutes or a hour to write down on paper every single thing that comes to your mind. It does not matter what it has to do with, get it all out of your head and on to a piece of paper. Now that should feel better. So prioritize those thoughts, ideas, etc…or just get rid of them.

4 Relationships

Most people have a special trustworthy relationship: spouse, parent, friend, the Creator. This is who you turn to when you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed. It helps to have someone to listen to you when you need to vent all that frustration out. These relationships help to make life easier, like writing things down, they allow an external release. So tell your spouse, get advice from your parent, get a friend’s point of view, and offer a prayer to your Creator. It helps to involve someone else in how you are feeling.

5 Counselor

Sometimes it does not matter what or how you cope with the stress in your life, you realize you need professional help. The type of counselor you need is one that does not want to put you on a pill to fix all your problems or to help you cope with life. You need a counselor that cares, that knows how to help you look inside yourself to find the means to deal with life and all it’s glory. A true counselor helps you to find those triggers that cause the frustration and stress to build up. A true counselor will help you-help yourself.
